A Union County mother raises concerns about jail conditions as her son serves time
UNION COUNTY, Tennessee — Vickie Bondy used to be a nurse. She's now retired from her job but there's one job she'll never retire from—being a mother. Bondy's son has been serving time in the Union County Jail because she said he violated his parole. She said her son has around three weeks left on his sentence, but the jail's conditions are making it hard to survive.
Maynardville Food City to celebrate remodeling reopening in late July with special deals
MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. — One of Maynardville's only grocery stores will soon celebrate its official reopening after it received a fresh look and several new services. Food City has wrapped up remodeling work at the Maynardville location off Main Street. The finished store now features an additional 9,200 square feet of room, adding space for a new Starbucks cafe, an updated food service area and an enlarged floral department. It also includes expansions to several grocery departments, including meat, seafood, produce, dairy, and more.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Old Gray Cemetery, located off North Broadway near downtown Knoxville, has been a historic landmark in the city since it was built in 1850. Morgan Wallen announced his homecoming with his return to University of Tennessee (UT)’s Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. later this year as part of his One Night at a Time Tour. Wallen grew up in Sneedville, Tennessee and then moved to Knoxville as a teen. In 2011, he graduated from Gibbs High School, located just outside of Knoxville.

The Anderson County Fairest of the Fair and Tiny Miss pageants were held July 15-16 at the Anderson County Fair in Clinton. The Fairest of the Fair is Autumn Brooke Hill, 20, a pre-vet student at the University of Tennessee. She is the daughter of James and Kim Hill of Clinton. She will represent the county at the Tennessee Association of Fairs Fairest of the Fairs Pageant in Murfreesboro in January, according to a news release.
