Neighbors in Ellis County question water quality
Homeowners in a new subdivision located off Prairie Ridge Blvd and Highway 287 said they dealt with murky and smelly waters for more than a week. “It definitely smelled like sewer water,” Jennifer Buice said. Buice is one of the several homeowners affected. “The yellow water stayed for a solid four days. They kept trying to flush the line, and you would see a temporary improvement. Sometimes it would turn to blue where it almost looked like a swimming pool water, not necessarily your regular tap water.”

TxDOT to begin culvert structure replacement in Hill County starting July 29
HILL COUNTY, Texas — Drivers navigating the Hill County area around Carl's Corner starting Monday, July 29 will notice some lane closures in the area. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Waco district, FM 2959 at Lovelace Creek just west of HCR 4235 will close so crews with TxDOT and a contractor can begin replacing culvert structures at Lovelace Creek.

Commissioners were proud to present 16-year-old Jaden Segura, a Texas DPS Explorer, with the first-ever Ellis County Heroic Citizen Award to commend his actions on May 5th, 2024. That day, Segura witnessed an accident at the intersection of FM 813 and Gibson Road in Waxahachie that resulted in life-threatening injuries to a motorcyclist. Utilizing his training, Segura promptly applied life-saving aid to the victim, even as others stood by in disbelief and confusion, thus saving her life.
