U.S. Army Corps Awards Contract for Dunkirk Harbor Breakwater Repairs
Critical repairs will soon be made to the Dunkirk Harbor breakwater. On Monday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District announced that it recently awarded a $7.56 million contract to Michigan-based Great Lakes Dock & Materials, LLC for those repairs. Repairs will focus on approximately 1,450 feet of the lake side of the breakwater, involving a stone overlay, and including a wrap-around of the east head of the outer breakwater. Work on the project, which is 100% federally funded, is planned to take place over the course of two construction seasons, with completion in 2025.
