7/3/24 Names Released in Fatal Dodge County Accident
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the three drivers involved in a fatal crash between a passenger car and two semi-trucks west of Juneau early Tuesday morning. Twenty-five-year-old Vincent Garza of Beaver Dam was driving a car on County Highway A/I that crossed over the centerline as it approached the intersection with County Highway W. Sixty-three-year-old Daniel La Brec of New Holstein was driving a semi hauling a flatbed trailer with steel that collided with Garza’s car. A second semi trailing Garza’s car then hit the passenger car. Garza died at the scene. La Brec was taken to Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam with minor injuries. The second semi-driver, 59-year-old Bradley Vandrisse of Pulaski was not hurt.

Dodge County Sheriff Offers Fireworks Safety Tips, Discusses Legality
(Beaver Dam) With the July 4th holiday Thursday, the Dodge County sheriff is providing a few safety reminders and courteous behavior tips throughout the upcoming weekend. Last year, there were 126 emergency room visits in Wisconsin for fireworks-related injuries according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. A quarter of those injured were children less than 18-years-old.

A 40-year-old Fond du Lac man pled not guilty to an attempted first-degree intentional homicide charge during his arraignment in Dodge County court Tuesday. Oscar Toruno allegedly tried to kill his girlfriend last August. According to the criminal complaint he had been accused of a similar charge in Fond du Lac County for a previous domestic incident and Dodge County deputies were notified by those authorities about an incident in the Town of Calamus. Dodge County deputies visited with the victim who told them Toruno, her live-in-boyfriend, was waiting in car one day after work. He allegedly drove them to a secluded location where he accused her of being unfaithful and tried to stab her with a knife. She was able to fend him off but received multiple cuts to her hands. She talked him down promising not to report the incident. He handed over the knife and she threw it into a field. Toruno told investigators he did try to kill the victim, but didn’t because she had the right to live.
