BUSY SUMMER ROADWORK SCHEDULE ROLLS ON
A number of road and bridge projects are on the schedule for this week throughout the region. Nighttime resurfacing begins tomorrow on West Pike in White and Armstrong Townships. Milling and paving will be done between 8 PM and 6 AM nightly through August 3rd between Ben Franklin Road at the YMCA and the Route 422 intersection. One-lane traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
Tuesday recital to feature ‘Amazing Grace’
JOHNSTOWN ― A toccata on “Amazing Grace” will highlight an organ recital at noon Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, 415 Vine St., in downtown Johnstown. Aaron Sproul, associate director of music of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Pittsburgh, will play the work by Chris Pardini and also pieces by Dubois, Locklair, Dupre, and Alain. His selections are suited to the romantic nature of First’s restored 3,000-pipe Skinner organ.
FIRE DESTROYS HOME NEAR HOMER CITY
Nine fire departments were called to the scene of a house fire in Homer City Wednesday night. Indiana County 911 reported that firefighters from Homer City, Coral-Graceton, Indiana, Brush Valley, Black Lick and Blairsville were initially dispatched at 9:20 PM to the home at 115 Pine Street in Center Township, with crews from Aultman, Clyde and Coal Run called out four minutes later to provide additional assistance.
