Aldi grocery company announced an aggressive expansion plan in a March 7th press release. The initiative is to open 800 new markets by the end of 2028. As part of that effort, a new store will be coming to the northeastern part of Tennessee in Johnson City. The store will become the 62nd in the state and the 2nd in that city. It will be located at 108 Whitewood Blvd.

A grand opening is scheduled for August 22. The store will open at 9 AM with a ribbon cutting taking place about 30 minutes earlier. There will be several promotional offers to celebrate the new store.

Aldi operates nearly 2400 stores nationwide, the other Johnson City location is at 1400 W Market St. The company with German roots opened its first US store in Iowa, in 1976.
