Milling and asphalt paving to commence Monday on U.S. Highway 212 and S.D. Highway 63 in Mobridge Area
Work is scheduled to begin Monday (July 15, 2024) on an asphalt milling and resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 212 between Dupree and Eagle Butte. The $16.3 million project will start one mile west of Dupree, and go east for 20 miles to the east side of Eagle Butte. In addition, S.D. Highway 63 from the junction with Highway 212 going north for 17 miles, will be milled and resurfaced.

ABERDEEN, S.D. - A McLaughlin man convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact has been sentenced. Brady James Claymore, 37, went into the bedroom of a 20-year-old woman on the morning of December 3, 2023. He then touched her sexually without her consent. The abuse ended when the woman told Claymore to get out of her room.

McLaughlin Man Sentenced to Eight Months in Federal Prison for Abusive Sexual Contact
{KXLG – Aberdeen, SD} U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced today that Brady James Claymore, 37, of McLaughlin, SD, was sentenced to eight months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for abusive sexual contact. Claymore was also ordered to pay the Federal Crime Victims Fund a $100 special assessment.

Polaris Ranger Accident Hurts Four Teens
On Friday, July 5th, 2024 Mobridge Dispatch was notified of a vehicle accident by Thomas Bay. A four-door Polaris Ranger was traveling westbound on Thomas Bay Road when it left the roadway, causing vehicle to roll and landing on its side. There were four passengers of the vehicle; a 15-year-old male from Aberdeen, SD; a 14- year-old male from Selby, SD; and two 15-year-old females from Fargo, ND. The passengers did receive injuries. The incident is currently under investigation. Agencies that responded to the scene were the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, Glenham Fire, Mobridge Fire, Selby Fire, Selby Ambulance and Mobridge Ambulance.

The Faulkton-Highmore Hitmen doubled down on Post 4, defeating Mobridge 17-1, 7-1 at Legion Memorial Field on Monday. Game one went awry for Mobridge in the second inning when Faulkton-Highmore scored 10 runs to take an 11-0 lead. They tacked on six more runs in the third before Post 4 put one run on the board before the game was called after three innings.

CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. — Chamberlain drove in 13 runs on 11 hits and eight walks to earn a 16-4 American Legion baseball victory over Winner/Colome Monday night in a game called after 5 innings on the mercy rule. Cooper Leiferman batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Graden Holan batted 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Dakota Munger batted 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Sawyer Donovan drove in three runs on a double and a walk, Conway Collins drove in a run on a hit and a walk, while Rayden Haak, Sandler Wiekamp, and Brayden Oldenkamp each drove in a run in the victory. Wiekamp earned the victory on the mound for Chamberlain, issuing four runs on three hits and four walks, striking out three. For W/C, Dylan Brandis took the loss issuing eight runs on two hits and five walks.

MCLAUGHLIN – Emery Bobtail Bear, 62, made his journey to the Spirit World on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck. Emery “Sno” Joseph Bobtail Bear was born to Valerie (Bobtail Bear) Archambault on March 4, 1962, in Fort Yates, North Dakota. He attended the Little Eagle Day Scholl from 1st-8th grade. He then went to high school in Standing Rock, graduating in May 1981. In 1982, he met and married Linda Neiss. To this marriage, their two sons, Emeron and Emerson were born. They both attended United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota where he studied to be an Electrician. After this, he joined the National Guard, the Mobridge Bridge Unit and he was deployed to Germany. In 1991, he was deployed to Kuwait for Operation Desert Storm.
