Police, fire, parks see new members, employees
The city approved hiring three new members between the fire and police departments earlier this month. At the city of Mobridge’s June 12 meeting held at the City Hall, two new members were added to the Mobridge fire department, while a part-time dispatcher was hired for the Mobridge Police Department.

Shirley Ann (Ackerman) Reiss, 82, of Trail City, South Dakota, passed away June 6, 2024, in Bismarck, North Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial was held June 14, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge, South Dakota. Visitation with a rosary following was held June 13, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Visitation continued for one hour prior to service time. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
50th IITC conference to convene at The Bay
The International Indian Treaty Council (IITC) is holding its 50th Anniversary Treaty Conference at The Bay, Friday through Monday, June 21 through 24. The 50th anniversary conference will feature presentations by Indigenous leaders from Oceti Sakowin Treaty Territory (Great Sioux Nations), and other leaders from around the world, including panels and committees working on solutions for a better future.
