Mass of Christian Burial for James “Jim” O’Leary, 30, of Timber Lake will be at 10 AM, Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. Burial will be at the O’Leary Family Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 PM Friday with a prayer service at 7 PM Friday at the church. Jim passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.
Wakpala man sentenced for Assault Resulting in Substantial Bodily injury to an intimate partner
U.S District Judge Charles B. Kornmann has sentenced a Wakpala, South Dakota, man convicted of Assault Resulting in Substantial Bodily Injury to an Intimate Partner. Phillip Lewis Young Hawk, age 45, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.

Crusaders earn 6-1 win over Stanley Co.
The Mobridge 16U Crusaders defeated Stanley County Post 20 6-1 in Fort Pierre on Sunday. Stanley County took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Crusaders took over with a four-run second inning. Kyson Good Shield got hit by a pitch and Wesley Arnott drew a walk. Bryson Andrews got the scoring going with an RBI single. A Tyrel Bleyle walk loaded the bases. A Michael Flaherty single scored one run and an Easton Eisemann walk scored another before a Trueth Crow Ghost walk sent Bleyle to the plate with the fourth run.
