NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A Panhandle mosquito trap site has recently collected mosquitoes positive for West Nile virus. These tests are the first ones to come back positive for the virus this summer, according to the Panhandle Public Health District (PPHD). These positive mosquitoes give PPHD, along with other health departments, an indicator of the location of the virus and where people may encounter mosquitoes carrying the virus.
