Pulaski County Commissioners Take Action to Move Forward with Housing Project
The Pulaski County Commissioners took action this week to move forward with the Willow Creek Villa housing project on East Galbreath Drive in Winamac. The project has been approved for low income tax credit from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. With that, Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer discussed with the commissioners a proposed $350,000 low-interest loan to Willow Creek Villas, LLC out of the LIT Economic Development Fund for local match support for the project. Last week the Pulaski County Council approved the advertisement of a $350,000 additional appropriation for the LIT Economic Development Fund for this purpose. The loan would have a repayment schedule of 15 years at 2 percent interest.
Grant Received for Save Haven Baby Box in Knox
A grant has been given toward the Safe Haven Baby Box program in Knox. California Township Trustee and Co-Project Director Sheri Bartoli told WKVI News that Kankakee Valley REMC recently provided the program with an Operation Round Up Grant in the amount of $4,625. The funds will help install an ADA sidewalk for access to the baby box and alarms for the baby box.

Knox Community School Board Approves Cell Phone Policy
As the new school year approaches, the Knox Community School Board members took action during their latest meeting to update policies. Superintendent Greg Mikulich said the school corporation had a cell phone policy that was updated last year, but each school board had to have a policy approved for each district this year as directed by the state.
North Judson Town Council Discusses CCMG Application for Second Call Funding in 2024
The North Judson Town Council members discussed the application for the second call of INDOT’s Community Crossings Matching Grant program this year. The paving projects would include W. Weninger St. from S. Garfield to George St, E. State St. from George St. to Schricker Ave., N. Garfield Ave. from Cherry St. to W. Vine St., W. Vine St. from Sheridan Ave. to Keller Ave., Arlington Ave. from Railroad St. to Pleasant St., and Main Street from Talmer Ave. to Lane St. Sidewalks would be included in the Main Street portion of the proposed projects.
