Mika Brzezinski Appears to Have Reached the Acceptance Stage: ‘It May or Not Be Joe Biden’

Mika Brzezinski has consistently defended President Joe Biden’s reelection bid while many Democratic leaders called for him to drop out. That appears to have changed.
In the past 24 hours, multiple reports have surfaced that high-ranking Democratic officials — like Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Hakeem Jeffries — all privately told Biden that the likelihood of his beating former President Donald Trump has dramatically waned . Rep. Adam Schiff also publicly called for Biden to step down.
Pelosi reportedly told Biden he could not win reelection and “could destroy Democrats’ chances of winning the House in November if he continues seeking a second term,” according to CNN. Here’s how Mediaite reported this Wednesday night:
Citing four sources who had been briefed about the call, CNN reported late Wednesday night that the former speaker talked with Biden within the last week and laid out a grim scenario for Democrats if he insists on standing for reelection.
“The president responded by pushing back, telling Pelosi he has seen polls that indicate he can win, one source said,” CNN reported. “Another one of the sources described Biden as getting defensive about the polls. At one point, Pelosi asked Mike Donilon, Biden’s longtime adviser, to get on the line to talk over the data.”
Joe Scarborough first noted that, with 110 days left before the general election, there is still time for a Democratic candidate to close the gap on Trump, citing numerous examples when a candidate was behind in the polls at this juncture in the race and won, sometimes in a landslide.
It was notable that Scarborough, who initially suggested a “change” in candidates following Biden’s disastrous debate performance three weeks ago but has cooled to defend the president (with whom he reportedly speaks on the phone regularly), appeared to back Biden’s bid. Scarborough now appears to have pivoted to Democrats figuring out a new, non-Biden plan post haste.
Brzezkinsi followed with, “The Democrats need to get it together. They really need to get whatever they’ve got going. The problem should not be our candidate. The focus should be on Donald Trump. ”
“You know, it may or may not be Joe Biden,” Brzezinnksi allowed. ” I trust Joe Biden’s abilities. I also trust Nancy Pelosi’s political acumen. Nobody knows politics more than her. And nobody, more than Nancy Pelosi. She does not get out there without information to back it up. She doesn’t take risks, and she knows her politics. She knows her numbers.”
