Trump Blasts Harris Over Afghanistan Withdrawal on Anniversary of Deadly Bombing: ‘She Bragged She Was the Last Person in the Room’

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump excoriated his Democratic counterpart, Vice President Kamala Harris , over her role in the United States’ military withdrawal from Afghanistan in video commemorating the deadly bombing that killed 13 U.S. servicemen three years ago on Monday.

After President Joe Biden announced that the U.S. would be pulling all military personnel out of the country in early 2021, the Taliban — the terrorist organization that ruled Afghanistan until America’s invasion of the country in 2001 — began to rapidly take territory in the country. Eventually, they seized control of the capital of Kabul even before the U.S. had completed its evacuation.

On August 26, 2021, amid the chaos of the complicated evacuation, a terrorist carried out a suicide bombing outside of Hamid Karzai International Airport, killing at least 183 people, including 13 U.S. military personnel.

Trump reflected on the anniversary — as well as Harris’s role in the decision to withdraw and the evacuation’s execution — in a video posted on Truth Social Monday.

“This month marks the three-year anniversary of the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country. Kamala and Crooked Joe’s catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan has just been horrible for all of us,” began Trump.” Three years ago, Kamala and Biden’s incompetence left 13 dead warriors, hundreds of civilians killed and grievously wounded, and $85 billion worth of the finest military equipment on the planet abandoned to the Taliban, right into the hands of the Taliban. It also left 45 incredible soldiers so badly wounded. The legs, the arms, the face, obliteration.”

    He continued:

As Vice President, Kamala bragged that she was the last person in the room. She was the tough one, she was the last person in the room during that disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan decision. She repeatedly praised the decisions, and she said it led to a catastrophe, but it was worth it. The incompetence and weakness on display from the Biden-Harris administration was an insult to every soldier, sailor, airman and marine who ever served in our U.S. military. As we mark this horrible occasion, we mourn with the families of the great American heroes who lost their lives three years ago, and we vow to never forget the supreme sacrifice they made for our country.

Trump went on to complain that Harris replaced Biden on the ticket and to recall her poor performance in the 2020 Democratic primaries.

“Under my leadership, our nation will be strong and respected like never before, and I will keep America safe.” concluded Trump. “And if I’m not elected, I truly believe you’re gonna end up in World War III, and you’re going to end up in a depression the likes of 1929. Thank you very much.”

In April 2021, Harris praised Biden for having “an extraordinary amount of courage” for making the decision to pull out and affirmed that she had been the “last person in the room” when he made it. It was Trump’s administration that initially negotiated a deal with the Taliban under which the U.S. was supposed to leave the country, although Biden made the ultimate call after assuming office.

Trump attended an event to memorialize the soldiers who died three years ago at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday.
