A superseding indictment replaces a previous existing indictment, and in this latest version, Smith brings the same four charges he had brought before, but now tailored to reflect the Supreme Court’s ruling in Trump v. United States on the issue of presidential immunity.
Trump wrote a series of four Truth Social posts shortly after 5:30 pm ET, repeating several themes commonly seen on his social media, including calling Smith “Deranged,” referring to the case as a “dead witch hunt” and “corrupt,” and accusing Vice President Kamala Harris and the Department of Justice from attempting to “INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION:”
