Lifelong Democrat Alan Dershowitz Swears Off Party After ‘Anti-Jewish’ DNC: ‘I Was Disgusted’ by ‘Miserable, Anti-Zionist Bigot’ AOC

Lifelong Democrat and famed attorney Alan Dershowitz left the party this week, citing what he said were openly anti-Semitic elements at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last month.

During a conversation with radio host Zev Brenner on the YouTube-streamed program Talkline , Dershowitz said he had been considering leaving the party and his breaking point came when he was heard hear pro-Hamas and “anti-Jewish” rhetoric outside of the United Center.

Dershowitz said some of the anti-Jewish hatred came from inside the convention from Democratic lawmakers.

“They had more anti-Jewish, anti-Zionist people who were speaking, starting with AOC – a miserable, anti-zionist bigot,” he said. “Then of course they had Liz Warren who is one of the most anti-Jewish people in the Senate.”

“I was disgusted at the Democratic National Convention,” he said. “Absolutely disgusted.”

Dershowitz said speakers at the convention cloaked their alleged animosity toward Jews by carefully toeing a line so as to not upset elements of the party who are sympathetic to Palestinians and those who openly support Hamas.

Brenner asked Dershowitz if he was “ready” to leave his party behind.

“I am no longer a Democrat,” Dershowitz shot back. “I am an independent. I will decide who to vote for at the last minute based on the totality of the circumstances. I want to see how they deal with Iran, I want to see how they deal with Iran’s attacks on the United States, I want to encourage the current administration to support Israel. So I’m not revealing my vote until maybe November 1. I need to hear all the information, all the evidence, but I am no longer a member of the Democratic Party.”

Dershowitz also attacked Vice President Kamala Harris for failing to “comply with her constitutional obligation” to preside over a joint session of Congress when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed lawmakers in July.

He concluded that another factor in his exit from the party was Harris’s decision to select Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro .

The attorney and political commentator concluded that in his estimation, Shapiro was passed over for being Jewish.
