Chewelah 49ers lose doubleheader at Medical Lake
Winning the Sandpoint Battle on the Beach was quite an accomplishment for the Chewelah 49ers. The downside of that feat was that those four games left the Niners short of pitchers for Tuesday’s doubleheader at Medical Lake. Coaches had to dig deep into the bullpen to find pitchers with innings remaining to throw against the league leading West Plains Cannons. Surprisingly, they performed well against the unbeaten Cannons, which is a team made up of Cheney and Medical Lake players. It was more the lack of hitting rather than the lack of pitchers that led to the demise. The Niners fell behind early in both games and had to battle from behind due to the shortage of early inning hits. The rain-soaked evening ended with the Cannons remaining undefeated after defeating the Niners 5-4 and 5-3 in a pair of closely fought ballgames.

It obviously was a very convincing trip. “After my visit, I realized Gonzaga was the best place for me and there was no reason to wait.” (Davis Fogle via Eric Bossi from 247Sports) Fogle can...
