Eastern Idaho librarians implement a variety of methods to comply with new library law
POCATELLO — Librarians across eastern Idaho are using a variety of methods to comply with a law that restricts materials to minors. The law, which was reintroduced a number of times in the Legislature, was passed on April 3 and became enforceable on July 1. It makes it so that anyone can submit a “request for reconsideration” on a library item to have it moved to a section with restricted access to minors, defined as anyone under the age of 18.

Tri-City Kitty Rescue celebrates adoptions, addresses feral colonies
The Tri-City Kitty Rescue is holding adoption events this weekend and next, leaders tell us they've already had multiple adoptions at Sunday's event. Dan Smith, Board Member of Tri-City Kitty Rescue, tells us. "It's really exciting. We've had four adoptions today, I'm quite sure we'll have some more as time goes on. Anytime one of our kittens gets adopted and gets to go to its forever home, it makes us happy. So even if we just had one adoption today, we would have been happy to be here."
Voiland College Welcomes New Faculty for 2024-25
Meet the cohort of new faculty members joining Voiland College during the 2024-2025 school year. Assistant Professor, Architecture, School of Design and Construction. Hala Barakat focuses her studies on early design pedagogy and social justice in architecture. She holds a Master of Architecture and a Master of Urban and Community design from the University of South Florida’s School of Architecture and Community Design. Before coming to WSU, she was an assistant professor at the University of Idaho.
Power restored to more than 500 homes in Prosser after two hours in 90 degree temps
PROSSER, Wash. - Update July 21 8:43 p.m. Benton PUD restored power to more than five hundred homes nearly two hours after an outage began late Sunday evening. Benton PUD said the outage that affected 559 homes began at 5:55 p.m. and was resolved at 8:35 p.m. for all residential homes. Crews were still working on commercial building in the area.

Mother suspected of assaulting five-month-old baby arrested
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A mother suspected of assaulting her five-month-old-child has been arrested. According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of a baby who was asleep and possibly died at an apartment on East Mansfield Avenue off North Argonne Road (12800-block of East Mansfield Avenue) Sunday evening.
Texas Fire Update for Monday, July 22
Containment increased to 60% as firefighters made significant progress yesterday securing the fireline. Crews completed initial mop-up for most of the fire area, gridding 100 feet into the black from the fireline, to search for and extinguish lingering heat. Firefighters assigned to the eastern spot completed hose lays three-quarters of the way around the perimeter, with engines working in areas where hose cannot be laid. Yesterday, a snag fell down creating visible smoke from the interior of the eastern spot; crews quickly responded and cooled the area with water. While mop-up operations continue, interior smoke may still be visible from time to time.
