Rabies alert issued for area of Brevard
MELBOURNE — The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County has issued a rabies alert for a portion of Melbourne. A stray cat killed in the area of Lynn Avenue off Laurie Street was confirmed to have rabies on July 17. The alert is in effect for 60 days.

TO: Melbourne water customers at the following addresses:. ________________________________________________________________. Water has been shut off to your property to replace a water main in the area. Therefore, as a precaution once water service is restored, we advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes, be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.
