Black bears traveling north

Black bears are traveling north into the following states listed: Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri. If you see a black bear here are several ways NOT to show defense, 1. Never turn around and run away, the black bear will ALWAYS catch up to you. 2. Never throw items at the bear like rocks or twigs. Here are several ways of what to do if you do encounter a black bear, 1. Make loud noises from a safe distance to try to scare it off. 2. If you are close, stay still because of the bear does lunge at you it is most likely a bluff to try to scare you.
