Free agent James Wiseman — who played for Penny Hardaway in high school and was a member of Memphis basketball's No. 1 recruiting class in 2019 — has signed a two-year contract with the Indiana Pacers.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news Tuesday afternoon.

Wiseman was the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after playing just three games at Memphis amid an NCAA investigation into his collegiate eligibility. A resolution (via the Independent Accountability Resolution Process) finally came nearly three years after Wiseman left the Tigers' program. While penalties were levied against the program, including probation (which it is still on at present), direct penalties against Hardaway were not assessed.

Wiseman spent his first two-plus seasons in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors. He then was traded to the Detroit Pistons in 2023.

In his only full season with the Pistons, Wiseman played in a career-high 65 games but averaged 7.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and a career-low 0.6 blocks per game.
