Zach Edey's NBA Salary Revealed After Being Drafted By Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies bolstered their frontcourt in the 2024 NBA draft, selecting 7'4" center Zach Edey out of Purdue. Edey's contract details with Memphis recently surfaced after being taken with the No. 9 overall pick.

According to John Leuzzi at IndyStar, Edey is expected to sign a four-year $26.27-million deal, with potential third and fourth-year options. Despite the financial details being set, negotiations for player and team options have always hindered quick signings.

Edey was graded anywhere between a second-round pick and undrafted player after his AP Player of the Year campaign in 2023. Despite being voted as the best player in college basketball a year ago, Edey decided to return to the Boilermakers for his senior season.

He led Purdue to a National Title appearance in 2024, averaging an astounding 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks. Edey secured his second AP Player of the Year award in 2024, becoming just the third player in NCAA history to win the award in back-to-back seasons, joining Bill Walton and Ralph Sampson.

Edey now joins a young team that features promising young players like Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane.

It was recently reported that the Canadian native will forgo the opportunity to take the court in the Summer Olympics, veering his focus toward the Summer League. Memphis will play their first game in Salt Lake City against the Utah Jazz at 8 p.m. ET on July 8.
