Graceland hosting All-American weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Independence Day may be over, but the celebration is continuing all weekend long at Graceland.

The All-American weekend kicked off on Friday night celebrating one of its most famous icons.

“So, just from growing up, we had Elvis everything,” an attendee told WREG. “So, I’ve just been a fan ever since.”

“I like to see Elvis’ cars and I like to get his coins in the little machine,” another attendee said.

So, with so many fans, where better to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend, than at the home of the King of Rock and Roll?

“It’s so exciting and when he gets the music going and the fireworks and Trilogy playing, there’s nothing like it,” an attendee said. “And to be at Graceland for this, I mean Graceland is the place to be.”

People from near and far are celebrating the kickoff of the All-American weekend here at Graceland.

And many who spoke with WREG said Elvis is not just a musical icon, but an American Icon too.

“I believe he was a big American, he was an army veteran,” an attendee said. “I mean, that’s pretty good and he was an army veteran so it’s in our family as army people.

So, to them, there’s nothing more patriotic than the Fourth of July and Elvis.

The All-American weekend continues through Sunday.
