Three University of Memphis athletic department staff members will soon leave for Missouri, joining former Tigers athletic director Laird Veatch, multiple sources confirmed to The Commercial Appeal.

Michael Schroeder (associate AD for integrated communications and marketing), Josh Moore (assistant AD for marketing and gameday presentation) and Emily Hagans (director of athletic stewardship engagement) are making the move. Veatch was named AD at Missouri in April.

Schroeder will be senior associate AD for marketing and communications at Missouri, while Moore's title will be assistant AD for marketing, according to a source.

Sources requested anonymity because official announcements have not yet been made.

Memphis announced Ed Scott as its new AD on June 26. During Scott's introductory press conference, the former deputy AD at Virginia addressed the prospect of making new hires.

"I think this is where being an AD before is helpful," said Scott, who was the AD at Morgan State before taking the Virginia job. "I've built a team. I've got a deep bench with a lot of people that I believe would come to work for Memphis in a heartbeat if they got the phone call from me.”

Scott was also specifically asked about deputy AD Jeff Crane's future at Memphis. Crane served as Veatch's No. 2 at Memphis before taking on the role of interim AD before Scott was hired.

“Everything I’ve heard about Jeff is phenomenal,” Scott said. “I’m going to do everything I can to keep him. And, if he wants to stay, I’d love to have him."

Schroeder came to Memphis in 2020 as the men's basketball sports information director. In July 2022, he was elevated to his current position, which oversees communications, marketing, game presentation, licensing, social media and digital media efforts. He also assists with name, image and likeness, and is the department's liaison with multimedia rightsholder Learfield.

Moore was added to Memphis' athletic department in August 2021, rising to his current role in August 2023.

Hagans also came to Memphis in August 2021, after spending five years in various roles at Florida.
