MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police recovered a stolen antique car behind an abandoned warehouse in Binghampton Friday after one of its owners received an anonymous tip about the car’s location.

“They said you can get your car. This is where it is, covered by a blue tarp behind this building,” said Bryson Lochemes.

The Memphis Police Department said OCU Auto Theft Detectives and the Appling Farms Station General Investigative Burea located the stolen 1953 Chevrolet 210 at 645 Harrell Street.

The vintage Chevy Lochemes had restored for his son was stolen from a gated garage in East Memphis early Wednesday morning.

The thief was caught on camera hotwiring the antique car and driving it away. A couple of hours later, he returned and hauled away the victim’s trailer, which has not been recovered.

Lochemes said they were just relieved to get the car back.

“Our son is going to be very happy to get his gift all over again,” Lochemes said. “We could not have done this without the help of the Memphis task force. They are amazing.”

Auto theft investigators could be seen processing the vehicle. MPD said they found one unknown fingerprint. So, far no arrests have been made.

Lochemes posted about the stolen Chevy on Facebook just hours after it was taken. This morning, he got back on the social media site to let everyone know the car had been found and thank them for their support.

“We are still searching for the trailer and feel confident that it will be found shortly,” said Lochemes.
