Arrest made in Whitehaven gas station carjacking

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 21-year-old man has been arrested after being involved in a carjacking two months ago at a Whitehaven gas station, Memphis Police say.

Henry Pious is charged with carjacking, employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

On May 14, the victim told police he was robbed of his Infiniti while he was at the Marathon gas station at 1682 East Shelby Drive. He said it started when he was walking to his car and two armed suspects approached him.

The victim said he threw his car keys to get the suspects to leave, but instead, they held him at gunpoint, grabbed the keys, and left in his Infiniti.

On May 16, investigators say video surveillance from the gas station showed the robbery unfold.

Before the robbery, two male suspects were seen getting dropped off behind the gas station and getting out of the backseat of a gray Audi, investigators say. Two other men were also seen going into the store with firearms tucked under their arms.

The same Audi was caught on camera pulling back on the lot during the robbery and trailing the suspects in the stolen Infiniti.

Officers say they got a tag number from the Audi and Henry Pious was developed as one of the suspects.

Investigators identified Pious as one of the suspects going into the store with a gun tucked under his arm and trailing the stolen Infiniti in the Audi.

Henry Pious’ next court date is scheduled for Wednesday morning. He is currently held in jail on a $100,000 bond.

On May 19, 2023, Pious was convicted as a felon for auto burglary.
