    Suspect throws lit firework into gas station, 2 employees injured

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are looking for a man they say threw a lit firework into a gas station, which injured two people.

    At approximately 10 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to an arson in the 3100 block of S. Perkins. They were told that a small red sedan had pulled into the store.

    A thin man got out and walked to the store entrance.

    Inside the store, a woman was paying for her items at the counter and two store employees were there.

    Video surveillance shows the man pulling a large firework from his pocket, lighting it and throwing it towards the store counter.

    The firework exploded, injuring two of the store’s employees and damaging $2,500 in merchandise.

    The suspect jumped into the back window of the waiting red sedan and they fled north to S. Perkins.

    Police have described the suspect as a thin man in his late teens to early 20s. In the video surveillance they released, the suspect was wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans and black loafers.
