MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For a second consecutive year Eastside Golf brand made its presence felt in the Memphis community after a successful ‘Community Golf Day’.

With the growing anticipation for the FedEx St. Jude Championship Eastside rented out Overton Park 9, the oldest municipal course in Memphis for a free-to-play event to draw people from the Memphis community closer to the game.

After successful collegiate careers that included a national championship title at Morehouse, brand co-founders Olajuwon Ajanaku and Earl Cooper developed the brand to break into the sport and diversify the game that hasn’t always been inviting to African Americans.

“The things that we want to improve in golf at the end of the day, is comfortability,” said Ajanaku, ” If you believe in Eastside golf, you believe in non-tradition and you believe in culture. Whatever that culture may be, it’s just different from how the game was made and who it was made for. That’s what Eastside Golf is here to do. I mean, just a whole new way, a whole new lens of looking at golf.”
