Scorching heat continues to smother Mid-South throughout the weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Severe Weather Center 13 is continuing to track the heat and humidity heading into the weekend and beyond. The heatwave continues through much of next week, with little to no chance of rain for at least the next 7 days.
The high heat and humidity will continue into next week with a heat index that will consistently be near or above 100 degrees. Rain chances are non-existent. The heat dome we are under is also steering the tropical system away from the Mid-South and into Florida this weekend and early next week.
Heat indices will stay at or above 100 degrees for the foreseeable future.

Highs in the lower to middle 90s with a heat index close to or just above 100 degrees. High of 92 degrees. Winds N, 5–10 mph. SUNDAY: Sunny and hot. Highs in the middle 90s with a heat index around 100 degrees. Light winds from the north keep the humidity lower than this previous week. High of 94 degrees. Winds N 5-10mph. MONDAY: Sunny and hot, with the humidity increasing once again. Highs in the middle 90s with a heat index above 100 degrees. Heat alerts are possible. High of 95 degrees. Winds E at 5–10 mph. TUESDAY: Sunny and hot. Highs stay above 90 degrees, with a heat index again above 100 degrees. High of 96 degrees. Winds SE at 5–10 mph.
