MENDOTA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man who was found dead in a cornfield outside of Mendota has been identified, and two men, who are father and son, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in his death, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies say they were dispatched shortly before 8:30 a.m. on July 5 to check on an injured person near Shields and Fairfax Avenues, just outside of Mendota.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s officials say they were directed to a cornfield where they found a deceased man. He was later identified as 37-year-old Antonio Torres Ochoa of Mendota.

Detectives say they developed information that identified 38-year-old Javier Medina, a.k.a Juju, as the primary suspect. Detectives visited his home, executed a search warrant, and arrested Medina on suspicion of homicide. They also arrested his father, 61-year-old Javier Medina, for being an accessory to the murder.

Sheriff’s officials say the victim and suspects knew each other. This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sheriff’s Detectives Jesse Gloria at 559-600-8217 and/or Oscar Iniguez at 559-600-8201.
