Veterans take part in a fishing charter adventure
MENOMINEE — Nineteen veterans, along with four Freedom for Patriots (FFP) volunteer guides, took part in a Great Lakes trout/salmon fishing charter adventure in Kewaunee, Wisconsin, on June 22. FFP, a Menominee non-profit organization providing support for active duty and veteran military members through recreational activities, regardless of physical or mental barriers, hosted the event. The variety and artistry behind Ember
STEPHENSON, MICH. – Ember is welcomed to the Stephenson Island band shell on July 11 for a performance with the Marinette and Menominee Concert Series: Concerts in the Park. Ember has been a band for the last four years, with their newest edition of their keyboard player Ivan, who joined over a year ago. Lead vocalist and guitarist Sarah Buresh is from Wisconsin but has toured throughout the United States and lived in Nashville, Tennessee, for nearly a decade, playing with thousands of people. Buresh is now back in Central Wisconsin and partnered with Twin Cities guitarist, vocalist, producer and content creator Rob Storm, who plays guitar and sings for Ember.

Gibraltar Talks Series Starts July 11
The Gibraltar Historical Association will host its first Gibraltar Talks event on July 11, 7 pm, at Old Gibraltar Town Hall, 4176 Maple St. in Fish Creek. During the event, local vintage music expert David Watkins will explain the connection between Chambers Island, Paramount Records and the Alexander Noble House. The program will also explore the life of Fred Dennett, who owned Paramount Records as well as the entirety of Chambers Island, minus the lighthouse.
The Steel Wheels Play Peg Egan
Rootsy Americana outfit the Steel Wheels will take the stage at the Peg Egan Performing Arts Center on July 7, 7 pm. The Steel Wheels operate in the space between tradition and innovation, informed by the familiar sounds of the Virginia mountains where the band formed, but always moving forward with insightful lyrics and an evolving sound. When they’re not playing shows or festivals, the band is hosting the Red Wing Roots Music Festival, a weekend-long celebration of music, community and Shenandoah Valley.

Birch Creek Announces 2024 Symphony Concerts
Birch Creek Music Performance Center announced a series of performances that will occur throughout the month of July, all beginning at 7 pm. •July 4 – The center will celebrate Independence Day with “A Birch Creek Symphonic Fourth.” The 90-piece symphony orchestra, conducted by Taka Matsunaga and featuring tenor and former Birch Creek student Jonathan Zeng, will perform patriotic tunes by John Phillip Sousa, along with works by Rodgers and Hammerstein. The concert will begin at 3 pm, and will be preceded by a pie-and ice-cream social at 2 pm.
