    Menominee track and field kicks off season at 'Queen City Relays'

    MARQUETTE — Menominee High School’s track and field team kicked off its 2024 season at the Queen City Relays in Marquette on Tuesday.

    Menominee collected seven top-three finishes in Marquette, four of which came in relay competition.

    Gianna Coduti, Reese Sallgren, Erin Schuettpeltz and Emily Schuettpeltz teamed up to take home second overall in the girls’ 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:37.89.

    Lexi Marineau joined the Schuettpeltz sisters and Coduti to capture third place in the 800-meter relay in 1:59.93 before she and Erin Schuettpeltz paired with Mackenzi Pesola and Richele Milostan to take third in the 400-meter relay (55.86).

    Cortney Buscher, Erika Peterson, Alayna Hodge and Brook Mosey walked away with third place in the 400-meter throwers relay after running a time of 1:04.41.

    Peterson also saw individual success in the girls’ discus throw, coming in third place after recording a throw of 75 feet, nine inches.

    Meanwhile, Pesola captured second place in the girls’ long jump after a leap of 14-10.

    Zander Jurkiewicz had the best finish for the Menominee boys, seizing fifth overall in the high jump event with a leap of 5’ 6”.
