    'Scarface' Star Ángel Salazar Dead at 68

    Ángel Salazar, the Cuban actor and comedian best known for playing Al Pacino 's sidekick in Scarface , has died at the age of 68.

    Salazar's representative and longtime friend Ann Wingsong confirmed the news of his passing in a statement to TMZ . He died in his sleep over the weekend and was found dead in bed at a friend's home in Brooklyn on Aug. 11. His cause of death was not revealed, but Wingsong noted that Salazar dealt with heart issues .

    Salazar was beloved for his role as Chi-Chi in Scarface , where he appeared alongside Pacino during some of the movie's most iconic scenes. He would reunite with Pacino a decade later in the 1993 drama Carlito's Way , where he also shared the screen with Sean Penn. He also worked with stars like Tom Hanks in 1988's Punchline and notched other notable credits like Hot to Trot , Boulevard Nights , Walk Proud , and Maniac Cop 2 . He even appeared in a Big Pun music video for "I'm Not a Player."

    He was also an accomplished comedian in the industry with appearances in HBO comedy specials like Last Comic Standing . He continued to perform until his final days, as his last shows were held Aug. 1 through 4 in Las Vegas .
