The Seiko Heritage Design Limited Edition Watch Is a Classic Stunner

In the 1960s and ’70s, Seiko was known for making a variety of stylish watches that quickly gained cult following and were snagged accordingly by savvy collectors. Many of these limited-editions have ballooned in value. Knowing this, the Japanese watchmaker is looking back to one of its most beloved designs from the period and reissuing it as part of its Seiko 5 Sports collection.

Dubbed the Heritage Design Re-creation Limited Edition , the watch comes in two colors, black and silver . The dial closely reflects the classic design, with the original Seiko 5 Sports logo positioned at 12 o’clock. The stainless steel case has a diameter of 38.5mm, measuring 44.8mm lug-to-lug. Only 12.4mm thick, its slim style adds a sleek appearance on any wrist. You'll find "Limited Edition" stamped on the case back—along with a serial number.

The Seiko 5 Sports Heritage Design Re-creation Limited Edition offers a 41-hour power reserve and an automatic movement with manual winding. It’s water resistant up to 100 meters and features a stop second hand function as well as a Day/Date display.

The bracelet features the same look as the original, but has been updated with contemporary materials, giving it a more tailored feel for daily wear. Additionally, the watchmaker provides a second strap in retro leather, reminiscent of the time when the original model was popular.

Everything about the watch was made to feel like the 1960s model, including the packaging, which pays homage to the box that came with the original. If you’re a fan of the classic style, but don’t want to go searching through estate sales or crossing your fingers on eBay, the new addition's retail price of $450 will likely be less than a quality version of the classic. Seiko is only making 9,999 of them in each color—and, like the originals, they'll probably be snatched up very soon.
