High school footballers invited to Marine Corps camp in Harvey
HARVEY, La. (WVUE) - The United States Marine Corps Sports and Leadership Academy heads to Harvey to train high school athletes through its Build to Lead Football event. According to a release, the camp features coaches providing instruction to student-athletes as well as teaching them skills allowing them to “Build to Lead” in every aspect of life.

City Park, New Orleans Saints to Upgrade Pan American Stadium
NEW ORLEANS – City Park Conservancy has begun making upgrades to Pan American Stadium. The renovation, which will be completed in three phases, is expected to cost $3.1 million and will be funded by FEMA and private donors. Last week, CPC and the City Park Improvement Association approved the renovation plan for the 4,500-seat facility at separate board meetings.

He was there from the beginning. Teevens was the head coach at Tulane when the Mannings, the first family of football, decided to start a camp to teach young quarterbacks various aspects of the passing game.
New Orleans Saints mourn loss of Lester Vallet Sr.
The New Orleans Saints mourn the loss of former grounds superintendent and beloved longtime staff member Lester Vallet Sr., who passed away on Friday at the age of 101. The Baton Rouge native was drafted into the United States Army following the attack on Pearl Harbor and served from 1942 until 1945. Vallet served as a saddle maker with the ninth and tenth Cavalry Regiments before being reassigned to the 1700th Engineer Combat Battalion. Vallet and his outfit worked to construct and deconstruct bridges across the Rhine River in Europe. After the war, Vallet returned home and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

NEW ORLEANS – Ryan Darrah, a rising senior at Brother Martin High School, who had a tremendous summer baseball season, has been selected as the Greater New Orleans Amateur Athlete of the Month for June. Monthly athletes of the month have been selected by the Allstate Sugar Bowl Sports Awards Committee since 1957. The athlete must be a native of the greater New Orleans area or must compete for a team in the metropolitan region in order to be eligible.

LSU men's basketball to face SMU in 2-game neutral site series
The LSU men’s basketball team will be facing a new ACC squad during non-conference play over each of the next two seasons. The Tigers have agreed to a two-game neutral site series against SMU, as was first reported by Made for March. The first game will take place on Dec. 14 in Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, and the two teams will face at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans during the 2025-26 season.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN HIGH: Chase Bagwill has been named head coach of the boys’ soccer team. Bagwill, a 2008 Jesuit alumnus, served as coach of Franklin’s JV boys’ soccer team and assistant varsity coach last year, when BFHS made it to the state championship. Bagwill replaces former head coach Joe Roberts.
