Thunder Beat Salmonbellies To Climb To Second Place
The Langley Thunder came into the Queen’s Park Arena Thursday night to take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies in Week 8 WLA action. The Thunder were coming off a win against Nanaimo on Sunday, looking to even their record. New Westminster has lost four straight games, and are running out of time to find the answers needed to put them back into the playoffs. Unfortunately for the Salmonbellies, the search continues, as Langley used a big first and second period to gain a 15-11 win. Langley moves to 6-6-1 on the year and 13 points with the win, allowing them to leapfrog Maple Ridge for second place in the WLA standings. Meanwhile, New Westminster (5-7) drops their fifth straight contest and are in danger of missing the WLA playoffs after having made the Mann Cup final last year.
