Wapiti Fire doubles in size near Grandjean, seven cabins lost
BOISE, Idaho — The Wapiti fire burning near Grandjean doubled on Thursday night. As of Friday afternoon, it has burned 35,000 acres and is 10% contained. The fire is prompting evacuation notices in Hanging Valley, Stanley, Summer Homes and the Sawtooth Lodge. Highway 12 is also closed east of Lowman toward Stanley, but Highway 75 is open as an alternate route, according to the Idaho Department of Transportation.

Cummins Starts a Little Slow in Boise
The first leg of the 4-week Korn Ferry Tour Finals teed off this morning in Boise, ID. Weatherford’s Quade Cummins, who has already secured his PGA Tour card for next season, played in the morning wave at HillCrest Country Club. Despite a challenging start with a 2-over on the front nine, Cummins turned things around with a 3-under back nine, finishing the day at 1-over 70. The University of Idaho College of Engineering is part of the Idaho Advanced Energy Consortium leading the Intermountain-West Nuclear Energy Corridor (INEC) Tech Hub.
