    Vehicle stolen in Fairfax County carjacking crashes in Central Virginia; 2 boys inside it

    ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Police said an officer in Central Virginia who saw a car moving erratically found out that it was stolen from Northern Virginia hours earlier.

    The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) said the officer saw the car on Seminole Trail around 7:40 a.m. on Friday. The officer ran the plates, finding that the car had been taken during an armed carjacking in Fairfax County, roughly 100 miles away.

    The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said the carjacking took place in the 8100 block of Porter Rd. in Merrifield around 6 a.m. A man called to say two people forced him out of his car.

    Fast-forward to Albemarle County where the police officer tried to stop the car. The driver sped off, and the car entered the intersection of Semiole Trail and Greenbrier Driver where it hit two other vehicles.

    The driver and the passenger inside the stolen car were minors. Medics took the boys to University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment. One was hurt seriously. The other boy had injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.

    Police said medics evaluated the drivers of the vehicles that were hit at the scene. The drivers’ injuries were not life-threatening.

    Officers said they found a gun in the car that had been stolen.
