A 27-year-old woman has been arrested after police allege she attacked three officers Saturday night.

Alaijia Yasmien James faces charges that include aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, according to court records provided by the Mesa Police Department.

Just before 10 p.m. July 6, a Mesa officer responded to a residential burglary call in the 500 block of South Extension Road where she encountered the suspect who said she did not live there, records show.

The officer attempted to approach the suspect who “made a fist, clenching her car keys throught her fingers to make a pointed end and struck the officer on the face numerous times,” according to the records.

The officer was injured near her eye, cheek and mouth.

Two other officers arrived to detain the suspect – one of them was scratched and the other was kicked in the groin area, records state.  The suspect was “tazed four times and control holds used” prior to being taken into custody.
