Cutting-edge technology is used in cancer treatments to ensure patients are getting the best treatment available at Mesa Skin and Cancer Institute, says physician assistant Jared Russell Breese.

When he served in the U.S. Army, he was accepted to physician assistant school through the Interservice Physician Assistant Program at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. His clinicals were completed at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg in North Carolina where he specialized in dermatology and plastics.

Your Name: Jared Russell Breese PA-C, MPAS.

    Age: 38.

Business Name: Mesa Skin and Cancer Institute.

Location, phone number, website: 4140 E. Baseline Road Suite No. 110 in Mesa; 623-267-5025; www.Skinandcancerinstitute.com

    Hours of operation: 8:15 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

    Town/Neighborhood: Mesa.

Personal background highlights: Born and raised in Arizona, I spent most of my youth playing sports or working as a lifeguard for the city pool. I met my wife back in college, and we are blessed with three beautiful sons who bring us joy on a regular basis. On the weekends you can find us on a golf course, in the mountains or on a Lake somewhere enjoying the outdoors.

Professional background highlights: Joined the Army out of high school, and after a deployment to Iraq in 2007, was accepted to physician assistant school through the Interservice Physician Assistant Program at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. My clinicals were completed at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Specializing in dermatology and plastics, I have a passion for helping patients with their skin care needs and find it very rewarding to see patients improve under our care.

What I do: We are a fully functional dermatology clinic that specializes in full body skin exams to screen for skin cancer, abnormal moles, rashes and unwanted lesions. We excise cysts, lipomas, malignancies and abnormal moles on a regular basis. We specialize in various acne treatments, and offer select cosmetic procedures.

What I like most about doing business here: The sense of community we see on a regular basis from the high schoolers with acne to the elderly with skin cancer. Everyone has accepted us and has really shown their appreciation for the services we provide.

Changes I’d like to see in this area: Hard to say, the community seems like it’s constantly improving and becoming more family friendly. It’s hard to critique such a beautiful community with such amazing people in it. With easy access to medical care, grocery stores, entertainment and shopping, Mesa has become one of the premier cities in the Valley. We always support our military and police officers, so feeling their presence on a regular basis always makes us feel safe.

What am I promoting: Get your annual skin exams to screen for skin cancer! It can happen to anyone, at any age. So, let’s catch it early before it becomes a bigger problem.

What I’m excited about and why: The cutting-edge technology that we are integrating into our cancer treatments to ensure our patients are getting the best treatment available.

Favorite community cause and why: Wounded Warrior program. As a veteran myself, I have seen the longterm effects of injuries sustained in war. Soldiers sacrifice so much, the least we can do is help take care of them when they come home.

When and why I started my business/employment here: Last summer we really decided to help raise awareness for skin cancer and treatments that are available. We felt Mesa was really underserved in the dermatology community, and wanted to bring our high level of professionalism and medical care to this community.

My family: I’ve been married to my beautiful college sweetheart Amy for over 13 years. We’ve been blessed with three sons, Jonathan (11), Jeremy (9) and Jameson (4).

My interests & hobbies: Anything that involves the outdoors! Golfing, fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, sports, country music and spending time with the family.

People who inspire me (and how): My parents have always been my rock and foundation. I owe my amazing childhood to them, and can always count on them for anything.

My guiding philosophy: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

My advice to today’s youth: Listen to your parents, think about life beyond tomorrow, don’t worry so much about what other people think, and always live a healthy lifestyle.
