    Bluejacket boys, girls win LSC Quad Meet

    GRAND RAPIDS—The Hibbing High School boys and girls track teams both won at the Lake Superior Conference Quad Meet held Tuesday at the Webb-LeBeau Track and Field Complex Tuesday.

    The Bluejacket boys scored 65.33 points, followed by Duluth Denfeld with 54.33, Grand Rapids 49 and Duluth Marshall 17.33.

    Hibbing got individual first-place finishes from Finn Eskeli in the 400 (54.33); Lucas Arnhold in the 800 (2:14.40); Aiden Shepherd in the shot put (49-feet-4 ½-inches) and discus (136-9) and Austin Valento in the pole vault (10-6).

    The 4x800 team of Arnhold, Brady Janezich, Jack Bottoms and Jake Walli won with a time of 9:31.00.

    Other top-eight finishers for Hibbing were as follows:

    The Hibbing girls scored 84.5 to place first, followed by Grand Rapids with 43.5, Duluth Denfeld 36 and Duluth Marshall 21.

    Individual firsts went to Tara Hartling in the 800 (2:25.19) and triple jump (31-2 ½); Jocelyn Strukel in the 1600 (5:22.42); Mileena Sullivan in the 3200 (11:57.99); and Alizah Langner in the pole vault (7-6).

    The 4x100 team of Andrew Petroske, Rylee Moellering, Hattie Eskeli and Brynn Babich won with a time of 54.08; the 4x200 of Abigail Theien, Haley Mount, Petroske and Babich won with a time of 1:58.44; the 4x400 team of Babich, Strukel, Sullivan and Jorie Anderson won with a time of 4:19.52; and the 4x800 team of Hertling, Strukel, Sullivan and Anderson won with a time of 9:43.23.
