    Eveleth

    The Mesaba Range VFW Post 1172 Memorial Day program at the Eveleth Cemetery will begin at 9 a.m. Coffee an’ will be at the Eveleth Elks following the program.

    Hibbing

    Presentation of Wreaths at the Hibbing Cemetery has been canceled due to excessive rain. The Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. at Memorial Building Little Theatre. The 21-Gun Salute, outside after service. Dinner following in downstairs dining room.

    Gilbert

    Gilbert Cemetery 10 a.m. Monday, May 27, George and Mark Klobuchar VFW Post 4456.

    Gilbert VFW member Leo Skrbec is master of ceremonies of the program.

    The program includes the following:

    Rock Ridge High School band directed by Kevin Szumal.

    Tom Noll, vocal soloist, patriotic songs.

    VFW Auxiliary Color Guard placing of the ceremonial wreath.

    Rev. Charles Flynn, retired priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, invocation and benediction.

    Mayor Tom Smith welcome and remarks.

    VFW Commander Mick Thompson welcome and remarks.

    Auxiliary President Marlaina Hart welcome and remarks.

    Rock Ridge students of English teacher Jill Clennon patriotic readings.

    VFW Auxiliary member Linda Tyssen the Roll Call of the Dead.

    VFW Honor Guard rifle salute.

    Band students sounding of “Taps.”

    A complimentary lunch of sloppy joes, chips and pickles prepared by the auxiliary and a cake provided by the Makinen Cemetery Association will be served at the VFW at noon, upon the return from Makinen.

    Makinen

    The Makinen Cemetery will hold its Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 27, at 11:15 a.m. at the Makinen Cemetery. The honor guards from George and Mark Klobuchar VFW 4456 and Auxiliary of Gilbert will take part. A sloppy joe lunch will be served at the Gilbert VFW following the Makinen service. The Makinen Cemetery Association will provide a special cake.

    Grave blessings for Memorial Day 2024 will be on Monday, May 27. Listed below are the times for services and grave blessings

    Please be present at the following locations, during the times listed, to participate in the services/grave blessings:

    Coleraine Cemetery: 9 a.m. *Meet at “Serb Hill”

    Hibbing Cemetery: 11:30 a.m. *Meet at the Chapel

    Chisholm Cemetery: 1 p.m. *Meet at the Chapel

    Divine Liturgy will be served at St. Basil of Ostrog Serbian Orthodox Church in Chisholm at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 27. There will be a general memorial commemorating all of our departed loved ones and friends at the end of Divine Liturgy.

    Markham

    Markham Cemetery (Colvin Township) Memorial Day service 10 a.m. at the Markham Cemetery on Vermilion Trail (Hwy 4). Caleb Lobb will be speaker and Kyle Hirsch will do the Roll Call.

    A potluck luncheon will be at the Colvin Town Hall following the service. Everyone welcome.

    Florenton

    Service at 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, at the Florenton Cemetery.

    Mtn. Iron Legion Post No. 220 will do the honor guard/21-gun salute.

    Dave Toole will read the roll call of the deceased veterans.

    Everyone is invited to a coffee an’ at the Wuori Town Hall following the service. The Laurentian Senior Citizens will serve the coffee an.’
