Southern New Mexicans grapple with public safety concerns after abrupt special legislative session
New Mexico’s special legislative session to address public safety began and ended in a matter of hours. The sole bill that made it to the governor’s desk addressed funding for wildfire recovery efforts and appropriated $3 million to fund assisted outpatient treatment programs and competency diversion pilot programs. The Doña Ana Arts Council announced the departure of executive director Araceli Solis Wednesday in a news release inviting applications for an interim leader. Solis “will be transitioning from our organization to pursue personal professional endeavors,” the nonprofit stated in a news release.
