Alabama man sentenced after setting father's home on fire, killing family pets
Federal authorities say an Alabama man will spend nearly five years in prison after he was found guilty of setting his father's home on fire and killing multiple pets. Tommy Harrison Sr., 34, was sentenced to 57 months in prison and two years of supervised release after pleading guilty to crossing state lines to commit arson.

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — The fiancé of an Ohio art student who went missing nearly 13 years ago has been sentenced to three years in prison. John Carter was sentenced Thursday. He had pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter as part of a plea deal. Carter had been charged with two counts of murder when he was arrested in March 2023. The charges stemmed from the August 2011 disappearance of Katelyn Markham, who was last seen at her home in Fairfield, Ohio. Skeletal remains identified as Markham’s were found in 2013 in a wooded area in Cedar Grove, Indiana, about 20 miles west of her home.

Rita Jo Richardson, 66, of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on July 17, 2024. She was born on July 4, 1958 in Greensburg, Indiana the daughter of Clyde and Norma Filler Morrow. She was a 1977 graduate of Greensburg High School. Rita worked at Gecom until she retired. She was a bright light when she entered a room and always had her arms open to give the best hugs. She will be missed so much by her family, but they are comforted knowing she is with her son, Travis and her parents.

Patricia Lynn Canterbury (Patty), 75, of Sunman passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at UC Hospital Cincinnati Ohio. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on May 19, 1949, to Charles and Mary Ella (nee Zimmerman) Stark. Patricia married Danny Canterbury on August 9, 1974 in Sailor Park Ohio. She was a former partner in The Sunshine Corner Florist in Sunman, Indiana, and was also in sales for the Yellow Pages. Patty loved her flowers. She also loved traveling, especially going to the casinos and the Grand Cayman Islands were a favorite destination. Being with her family was a treasured time but she loved being with her grandchildren the most. Patty is survived by her husband, Danny; children: Jason (Jessica) Canterbury, of New Port Kentucky; Josh (Brenna) Canterbury, of Flag Staff Arizona; 2 grandchildren Kinley, Hayden Canterbury; and very close family friends Brian (Erica) Alsip and their children Conner and Zeke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Ella Stark, step-brothers: Harry Stark and Charles Stark. Friends may call Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a 3:00 pm memorial service immediately following, all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Pastor Shawn Crisman is officiating. MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER ON INDIANA AVENUE
(Richmond, IN)--A Richmond man has been jailed on an attempted murder charge. 43-year-old Bryan Orr was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on Indiana Avenue. According to public records, a warrant had been issued for Orr’s arrest for attempted murder and domestic battery, although what led to those charges has not yet become available. Orr was also allegedly in possession of cocaine at the time of his arrest Tuesday. Orr was on the other side of an attack in 2019. He was shot in the chest on Sheridan Street.
