Residents living in an affordable housing apartment complex are being told they have 60-days to move or face eviction notices. Back in March of 2023, the City's Historic Preservation Board voted to have developers add additional units, a rooftop pool, and an outside terrace to the Riviera Plaza Apartments, located at 337 20th St. in Miami Beach.
Master Building Permit Issued for 75-Story ‘Baccarat Residences Miami’
A master building permit has been issued for Baccarat Residences Miami, a luxury condominium tower developed by Related Group and GTIS Partners and designed by Arquitectónica. Miami’s Building Department issued the permit to allow for the continued development of the 848-foot-tall skyscraper, under construction at 99 Southeast 5th Street and expected to be completed in early 2028. John Moriarty & Associates serves as the general contractor for this project.

Eastbound Dolphin Expressway to close overnight this weekend in Miami
The eastbound lanes of part of the Dolphin Expressway (State Road 836) will be closed overnight this weekend, and drivers will need to take alternate routes, officials said. SR 836 will be closed at NW 17th Avenue from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday and then again from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5:30 a.m. Monday, the Florida Department of Transportation said.

In the 1980s, Miami was a byword for violence. Drug cartels were murdering people. MIAMI – State and local officials dealing with construction on State Road 836 warned drivers that the eastbound lanes are set to close Saturday night in Miami. The planned closure at Northwest 17 Avenue starts at 11 p.m., Saturday, from Little Havana to Overtown, and ends at 9 a.m., Sunday. The ramp at Northwest 12 Avenue will also close. The eastbound detour is at Southwest First Street.

A new study of the ten census-designated cities with 100,000 or more residents and high Latino populations showed their poverty rates are 50% higher than the national average. The ten communities, which include Laredo, Texas; East LA and Hialeah, Florida had an average poverty rate of 18.7%, considerably higher than the national poverty rate of 12.5% and the overall Latino poverty rate of 17.2%, the report by Axios shows.
