Miami Heat Agree To Terms With Five-Time NBA All-Star

The Miami Heat have officially agreed to terms with former five-time NBA All-Star Kevin Love. During his second season with the Heat, the 35-year-old averaged 8.8 points and 6.1 rebounds.

Love opted out of his contract Saturday, but after a short negotiation, Miami inked the veterans forward to a two-year, $8 million-plus deal, per Shams Charania on X.

Love was a serviceable piece for the Heat last season, but injuries held him to 55 games. He's dealt with nagging injuries during his time in Miami, playing 21 games the season prior. An elbow injury sidelined him for a portion of the Heat's 2023-24 season.

Miami finished the year with a 46-36 record, heading into the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. The shorthanded Heat, with Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier sidelined due to injury, were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round after suffering a 4-1 series loss to the NBA champion Boston Celtics.

Love helped head coach Erik Spoelstra as a player's coach. The former NBA champion has previously mentioned that he carries a similar role to Udonis Halsem with the Heat, and Miami values those vocal veterans.

His contract was the first move Miami made during the opening hour of free agency. Once June 30th hit, players were allowed to sign and negotiate, and it's clear Miami already had their plan in place with Love.
