    Is Publix open? What about Costco? Garbage pickup? What’s open and closed on July 4

    The holiday during which the United States celebrates our declared independence from England also means for many the freedom from a day at work and the freedom to spend money at the store.

    Here’s what’s open and what’s closed on July 4 in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas.

    Supermarkets

    Publix: Stores open, but the pharmacies closed.

    Winn-Dixie and Fresco Y Mas: Open regular hours.

    Sedano’s: Open regular hours.

    Presidente: Open regular hours

    The Fresh Market: Open regular hours.

    Whole Foods Market: Stores open, with some locations opening at 7:30 a.m. and others at 8 a.m., but all will close at 6 p.m.

    Aldi: Open regular hours.

    Price Choice: Open, but check the hours of your favorite location.

    Trader Joe’s: Open until 5 p.m.

    Walmart Neighborhood Market: Open regular hours.

    Big box stores

    Walmart: Open regular hours.

    Target: Open regular store hours, but the pharmacies and optical departments are either closed or open for a reduced number of hours.

    Costco: Closed.

    BJ’s Wholesale Club: Open regular hours.

    Drugstores and pharmacies

    Walgreens: Open regular hours, but the pharmacy is likely closed.

    CVS/Navarro: Open regular hours, but pharmacy hours will be reduced.

    Shopping malls

    Aventura Mall: Open 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

    Brickell City Centre: Open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    Broward Mall: Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Coral Square: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Dadeland Mall: Open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    Dolphin Mall: Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    The Falls: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Florida Keys Outlet Marketplace: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Miami International Mall: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

    Pembroke Lakes Mall: Regular hours.

    Westland Mall: Regular hours.

    Mass transit

    Miami-Dade: Metrobus, Special Transportation Services (STS), MetroConnect and MetroLink will run on a Sunday schedule. Metrorail and Metromover will run on a weekend schedule.

    Broward: Broward County Transit will operate on a Sunday holiday schedule. The Northeast Transit Center in Pompano Beach will be closed, and there won’t be Express or Breeze bus service. But trip-planning help for bus services and paratransit trips will be available at 954-357-8400 (TTY 954-357-8302) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. And the Main Terminal in downtown Fort Lauderdale and the Lauderhill Transit Center will be staffed from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

    Tri-Rail: Trains will run on the weekend/holiday schedule.

    Garbage

    Miami-Dade: No home garbage collection. Pickup will be on your next regular day. Trash and recycling centers won’t be open.

    Miami: Regular collection.

    Broward: Regular collection.

    Fort Lauderdale: Regular collection.

    Note: All other residents should check with their municipality.

    U.S. Postal Service

    There will be no mail delivery and post office branches will be closed.

    Stock market

    The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will be closed.

    Courts and county offices

    Miami-Dade and Broward: Closed.

    Libraries

    Miami-Dade and Broward: Brick-and-mortar branches closed, online services still open.
