Sean Kingston and his mother made their first appearance in front of a federal court in Miami on Friday after being indicted by a grand jury on wire fraud charges. If convicted, the “Fire Burning” singer and his mom could each spend up to 20 years behind bars, burning up in Florida’s notoriously hot prisons . Kingston and his mom, Janice Turner, are each facing one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud. The duo are accused of stealing money and cooking up a scheme to defraud several businesses of luxury cars, high end jewelry, and other pricey goods bought through fraudulent documents. The U.S. Attorney’s Office believes Kingston and his mother kept over $1 million in assets that they didn’t fully pay for, faking out sellers with fraudulent wire transfers from October 2023 to March of this year. Kingston’s attorney, Bob Rosenblatt, said back in June that the “Eenie Meenie” singer is innocent, and would be pleading not guilty. “There’s no fraud here,” Rosenblatt said. “There’s no organized fraud at all.”
