After eight seasons in the NFL, former Miami Dolphins third-round pick and running back Kenyan Drake has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Drake, who spent three-plus seasons with the Dolphins from 2016-2019, took to Instagram on Friday to reveal he was hanging up his cleats.

"It's been an incredible ride. Hard to believe 8 seasons have come and gone," Drake said. "I’ve loved the journey - the wins, the moments big and small, the comradery, the energy, all of it.  I can’t say I loved everything (if you’ve ever done training camp in Miami you can relate lol), but certainly appreciate the lows and the grind, and know those moments grew me as a football player and more importantly as a person.  Ready to enjoy a little retirement and see where the next chapter takes me. Thanks to everyone that was along for the ride with me - wouldn’t change a thing."

Shortly after his post, Drake revealed to Josina Anderson why he's calling it a career.

"Yes it is (true I'm retiring). It felt like the right time," Drake said. "I love the game, but I don't love the business. I'm at peace with the decision. I'm healthy and ready to start the next chapter of my life."

Miami traded Drake to the Arizona Cardinals during the 2019 campaign, and he remained in the desert for the 2020 season before moving on to play for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, and then the Baltimore Ravens in 2022.

Drake's last season in the NFL came in 2023, when he appeared in contests for the Ravens and Green Bay Packers . He did not sign with a team this offseason.
