The rebirth of the Miami River continues: A glamorous Mediterranean restaurant is now open at a new waterfront luxury development there.

Casa Neos, the 30,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style destination from Riviera Dining Group that includes a private members-only beach club, a small boutique hotel and rooftop bar and restaurant, has opened Casa Neos Restaurant.

The restaurant, which serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, is the creation of Chef Michael Michaelidis, head of culinary at Riviera and one of the chefs of Mila on Miami Beach, which earlier this year was named one of the most beautiful rooftop restaurants in the country .

Michaelidis spent 12 years working for the international Robuchon Group, parent company of Miami’s Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon and Le Jardinier, earning seven Michelin stars. Overall, restaurants in which he worked earned 26 stars, spanning the globe from Cannes and Monaco to Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

The two-story Casa Neos Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine, so expect plenty of fish and other seafood on the menu. There’s a raw bar, too, and the menu offers plenty of mezze and appetizers like sea bass carpaccio, frito misto with calamari and prawns, and yellowfin tuna and crispy wagyu beef tartare.

Guests can also order maki (sushi rolls) with snow crab, spicy yellowfin tuna and truffle hamachi ranging in price from $18 to $26. Entrees include Florida red snapper, branzino, Faroe Island salmon and grilled prawns.

A few meat dishes are available, too, including Australian rack of lamb, wagyu beef skirt steak and and beef tenderloin filet. Entrees from both the land and the sea tend to range between $37 and $85, although a 32-ounce Tomahawk will set you back $250.

Michaelidis called the restaurant “a fully immersive experience for the senses.”

“I’m honored to be part of a new chapter in Miami’s culinary scene,” he said in a statement.

The development has also opened its private beach club, which includes a saltwater pool, sunbeds, cabanas, a menu of Mediterranean bites and sushi rolls and cocktails and bottle service. A 45-foot boat will be available for members.

Opening in the fall is the four-suite hotel, with views of the Miami River, and the rooftop restaurant and bar Noora, which will feature views of the Miami skyline and serve what it calls “MediterrAfrican” fare, highlighting the traditions of Morocco, Turkey and Lebanon.

Gregory Galy, founder and chief executive officer of Riviera, said the group was “thrilled” to make its debut running a hotel, calling Casa Neos “a venture that will set the new standard for hospitality and stand as the focal point of the revitalized Miami River neighborhood.”

The Casa Neos development isn’t the only project setting out to transform the Miami River neighborhood. Recently the restaurant Elia from Aden Hospitality Group opened at the River Landing Shops & Residences , a 2.2 million square feet mixed-used complex with restaurants and retail on the river.
