Latest news makes slim hopes for reunion with key Miami Dolphins starter appear to be gone

Connor Williams was an absolute force for the Miami Dolphins last year.  That is, when he was on the field.  Injuries slowed the veteran center down and sidelined him for multiple games throughout the season.

However, when it appeared he might be turning the corner for a healthier homestretch, the Monday Night Football Game against the Tennessee Titans happened.  Williams was lost for the year with an ACL tear , and Tyreek Hill suffered a significant ankle injury that hobbled him for the rest of the season during Miami's 28-27 come from ahead loss.

Now, it looks like the slim hopes for another season in South Florida are heading the way of the Dodo.  According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Williams is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday.

Williams' agent Drew Rosenhaus says he will be ready to go for training camp.  Rosenhaus also previously noted that a reunion with the Dolphins was unlikely because Williams was looking to play center and the Dolphins had signed Aaron Brewer in free agency .

However, according to Seahawks beat reporter Corbin K. Smith , Williams is being considered as potentially either a left guard or center.  The Dolphins certainly have some uncertainty at right guard, with a number of reserves in prior seasons looking to win the job after Robert Hunt signed with Carolina in March .

Brewer has experience at both guard and center, as does Williams.  The potential could be there to make it work.

However, it seems like Rosenhaus and Williams see the latter as more of a center.  And it appears the Dolphins see the same with their new guy Brewer.  And surely, there would have been a visit by now between the two if there was mutual interest for a return.  Instead, he's off across the country in search of a new team.

Accordingly, while Miami fans would love to see Williams back with the Fins, it seems like the veteran lineman is destined to end up in another uniform for the 2024 season.
